1. Compose 4 different emails for a freebie on Gumroadβ
Before we start with the welcome email sequence.
Why does a welcome email sequence matter?
Because a users's interest in your product or service will never be higher than when they first signup to get it.
I didn't know Gumroad had it until I stumbled upon this tweet:
What you want to include in a sequence:
1. Explain what users can achieve with your product π‘β
2. Clear next step on how to get started with your product π β
3. Show where users can turn for help βοΈβ
My latest product is a free welcome email HTML template with testimonials.
Why testimonials in a welcome email? Because you want to reassure your users that they made a good decision signing up or buying your product.
Alrighty, back to constructing the welcome email sequence. Let's start with the first email.

Email 3: Tips on how to get testimonialsβ
When: 3 days after signup/purchase Intent: Deeper insights and tips Title: If you don't have any testimonials, here's how to ask for them
Email 3:
Hi there!
So you have a welcome email HTML template. Now what? How do you get testimonials?
The best way is simply to ask your users. People are usually happy to help out, so just reaching out and asking for a testimonial can often be successful.
If your product is still in the pre-launch stage, you can also use tweets or other comments you've received so far as testimonials.
Here are a couple of tips:
- Give your users multiple options for leaving a testimonial. They could write it out or film it, for example.
- Ask for a testimonial that's short and sweet. Less than 240 characters are ideal since that's the length of a tweet.
Hereβs a template to ask for testimonials:
Hi!
We hope you're enjoying using [PRODUCT/SERVICE].
Now that you've had a few weeks to try the product, we'd love to know what you think.
Your feedback means a lot to us! Thanks for being a loyal [COMPANY] customer.
Thank you again for choosing our welcome email template.
Warmest, Norah
